Year 9 students from Corpus Christi High School in Cardiff have teamed up with Yard Digital and Yard Academy to take part in BIMA D Day.
The British Interactive Media Association (BIMA) holds its Digital Day or D-Day for short every year and aims to link digital professionals from across the UK’s creative & professional sectors with young people in schools and colleges.
Yard Digital and Yard Academy are proud to be taking part with the students from Corpus Christi High School again.
Director of Yard Digital and Yard Academy, Paul Newbury said ‘It’s been a great opportunity not just for the students but our staff too. The students come up with some great ideas for using social media, connected devices and an creating an app for social good.’
Digital expert Paul Newbury regularly volunteers running a coding club at Corpus Christi. ‘It’s great to see the students developing coding skills. There is such a huge skills gap in coding in Wales. The need for coding is only going to grow with time as more and more people will be employed in the digital industry. It’s great to see student develop this at such a young age and it is an absolute pleasure to be able to give something back to my old school to encourage this.’
